About Montréal

Located on an island in the Saint Lawrence River, Montréal is the largest city in Canada's Québec province. Arriving in Montréal

Located just 20 minutes from downtown, Montréal-Trudeau airport (YUL) offers direct flights from some 30 carriers to over 150 international destinations. Inbound travelers will find everything they need upon arrival, including tourist information and various options for making your way to the heart of the city: car rentals, limousine and taxi service, as well as airport shuttles. The 747 Express bus operates 24/7/365, costs $10 and will get you to one of the nine downtown stops in 40 to 60 minutes (depending on traffic). If you take a taxi, a trip downtown will cost you a flat rate of $41, tip not included.

Passports and Visas

Visitors entering Canada must present a valid passport and, in certain cases, a visa. US Visitors may enter Canada for up to 180 days without a visa, passports must be valid at time of entry and one blank page is required. Currency

Montréal currency is the Canadian Dollar, which is divided into 100 cents. There are 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 dollar bills. There are numerous currency exchange offices for visitors to exchange money. Credit cards are also widely accepted in restaurants, stores, taxis, etc.

Weather

In September Montréal is transitioning into fall; with pleasant daytime temperatures leading into cooler evenings. The average temperatures in September range from 70° F (21° C) to 55° F (13° C).

Electricity

Canada operates on 110 volts compared to the standard 220 volts in Europe, and uses a Type A or B Electrical plug; the same as which are used in the United States.

Time Zone

Montréal is in the Eastern Time Zone, and will be observing Eastern Daylight Time in September during the Annual Meeting. Easter Daylight Time is four (4) hours behind Greenwich Mean Time.
