Opening Ceremonies & Welcome Reception

Open to all registered delegates at no additional fee. Guest registration is mandatory for guests ($100 USD) to attend the Opening Ceremonies & Welcome Reception. Name badges are required.
The Annual Meeting will officially begin with the Opening Ceremonies and this year’s Howard Steel Lecture, presented by internationally renowned Chef Normand Laprise. The evening will include an introduction of the SRS officers and the presentation of the Walter P. Blount Humanitarian Award. All delegates and registered guests are invited and encouraged to attend the Opening Ceremonies. Following the Opening Ceremonies, we will move to a hosted reception featuring heavy hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, plenty of lively conversations and reunions with colleagues and friends.
The Welcome Reception is supported, in part, by grants from NuVasive, OrthoPediatrics and Zimmer Biomet.
Farewell Reception

The 54th Annual Meeting will culminate with a reception at the St. James Theater located walking distance from the Palais des congrès de Montréal in old Montréal. The building was constructed as the main Montréal branch of the Canadian Bank of Commerce from 1907 to 1909 and features impressive marble and stone interiors and stained glass windows.
The Farewell Reception is open to all registered delegates and registered guests. Tickets are $50 each for registered delegates and $175 each for guests. Tickets should be purchased in advance as a limited number of tickets may be available onsite. SRS strongly urges delegates and guests to purchase tickets at the time of registration.
Tickets are required. Cocktail dress is appropriate for the Farewell Reception
Optional Tours - Tour Registration Now Closed
The following tours are available to registered delegates and guests through VDM Global. All tour reservations must be made directly on the VDM Global website, using the “Register for a Tour” button, below.
Please note that you have until Friday, August 16, 2019 to register for tours. If the minimum of participants for your tour is not reached, your tour could be cancelled by VDM Global for lack of participation. You would then be advised by email at the cut-off date, on Friday, August 16, 2019. If your tour is cancelled, you will be reimbursed on the same credit card used for purchase.
Tours with a minimum number of persons listed will only operate if the minimum number of persons book the tour; tours will be refunded if the minimum number of persons is not met. Tours crossed out in red have been cancelled due to failing to meet the minimum number of participants.
A Foodie’s Tour of the Jean-Talon Market
Begin this culinary tour by discovering the famous Jean-Talon Market, the biggest outdoor market in North America. Located in Little Italy, a captivating neighborhood full of tasty hangouts and local gems, the market is the ideal place to buy fresh local produce, remarkable cheeses and meats from regional producers, authentic international discoveries, flowers, gourmet cookbooks and other products exclusive to Québec! You’ll be charmed by the wonderful smells, the colorful stalls and the culinary diversity of this Montréal institution. We will continue our stroll into the heart of Little Italy to learn more about Montreal’s Italian community and the district’s development from trendy shops to authentic institutions. Of course, along the way, we’ll enjoy a few tastings in order to get a real taste of Montreal’s Little Italy! 6 person minimum.*
