NEWS RELEASE: Scoliosis Research Society Announces the 2021 Research Grant Award Winners

Milwaukee, WI (September 24, 2021) – During the 56th Annual Meeting of the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), held in St. Louis, MO, USA, members announced the 2021 Research Grant Award Winners. The total for this year's funding is more than $300,000 dedicated to spine research. All research grant applications are reviewed and selected by the SRS Research Grant Committee.

 

New Investigator Grant:

 

Ishaan Swarup, MD for Preoperative Patient Expectations in Patients Undergoing Spinal Deformity Surgery for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS), grant totaling $30,000

Standard Grants:

Kylie Tucker, MD for Novel insights towards non-invasive predictors of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis: A comprehensive examination of musculoskeletal asymmetry, grant totaling $49,996

Keith Baldwin, MD for Predicting Progression of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Using Clinical Means Available Widely at Point of Service- A Multicenter Prospective, grant totaling $50,000

Benjamin Sinder, PhD for New Strategies for Pulmonary Assessment in Spinal and Chest Wall Deformity, grant totaling $75,000

Resident/Fellow Grants:

Hongda Bao, MD, PhD for Functional spino-hip anatomy: An insight into the interaction between spine and hip, grant totaling $9,000

Kyle Morse, MD for Topical Tranexamic Acid as an Adjunct to Intravenous Application in Adult Spinal Deformity: A Randomized Control Trial, grant totaling $9,576.

Jacob Greenberg, MD for Using ecological momentary assessment and digital phenotyping to create personalized disease profiles for adult spinal deformity, grant totaling $10,000

Exploratory Mirco Grant:

Hai Le, MD for Osteoporosis Treatment and Outcomes in Patients Undergoing Adult Spinal Deformity Surgery, grant totaling $2,500
