The Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) is an international society that was founded in 1966 with 37 members. It has gained recognition as one of the world's premier spine societies. The SRS has maintained a commitment to research and education in the field of spinal deformities. Strict membership criteria ensure that the individual Fellows support that commitment. Current membership includes more than 1,000 of the world's leading spine surgeons, researchers, physician assistants and orthotists who are involved in research and treatment of spinal deformities.
I am very honored and humbled to become the 53rd president of the Scoliosis Research Society.
I remember as a resident seeing how valued this society has been to its members and the patients we serve, and how important it was to me to contribute in ways so that I might be selected to be a member. It is incredible how much the SRS has grown and expanded since that time, becoming the internationally recognized source for education and research for spine deformity care.
That growth has allowed us to widen our offerings and expand our outreach worldwide. As we return to fewer travel restrictions, we will be restoring and refining our educational programs to ensure that they continue to be valued by all who care for patients with spinal conditions, particularly when spine deformity can be corrected or avoided.
