President's Message

Christopher I. Shaffrey, MD
SRS President

Dear SRS Members,

As we close out 2021, I would like to thank each and every one of you for your dedication to our great Society. So many of you give your time and energy to continue moving us forward, we truly could not do it without you. Looking ahead to 2022 we have many things to be excited about.

IMAST will be back in person, for the first time in two years, April 6-9 in Miami, Florida USA. The full program including abstracts and educational sessions was released mid-December and can be viewed online. Make sure to register and book your housing early, it promises to be an innovative and exciting meeting.

In November you received notice that the SRS Annual Meeting has had a date and location change due to COVID related challenges. I am excited to host you in Stockholm, Sweden, September 14-17, 2022. I am hopeful that most of our membership will be able to join us at the meeting so we can celebrate being together again with our colleagues from all around the globe.

Other exciting things on the horizon for SRS include a robust schedule of webinars, Hands-On Courses, and Current Concepts in Spine Deformity Courses; as well as work on a much anticipated update to data collection. This was a key finding from the member survey on research as well as stakeholder interviews that helped develop the SRS Research Agenda. This is still in the early phase of exploration and development, but we hope to have more information on this by the Annual Meeting.

I wish you all a happy, safe, and healthy new year. I look forward to seeing all of you in 2022!
